A Houthi missile attack on the presidential palace in Aden killed five people. Government officials remained safe during the incident.

A Houthi missile attack struck the presidential palace in Aden. The strike killed five people and injured 16 others. Aden serves as the base for the government recognized by the international community.

Next, Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani confirmed the news to the media. He stated that the prime minister and other officials avoided injury. Five ballistic missiles hit the al-Maashiq Palace during the assault.

Meanwhile, the Houthi military spokesman claimed they targeted military headquarters. They stated they intended to strike Saudi-backed operations in the city. The Saudi coalition provides air support for government forces against the Houthi rebels.

Also, the health minister identified the victims as palace guards and civilian workers. Prime Minister Shaya Zindani condemned the event as a cowardly act. He vowed that the government would continue its duties despite the violence.

However, the Houthis previously denied attacking Saudi Arabia earlier in the week. The Saudi coalition claimed they intercepted a missile near Medina. The Houthis regularly target airports and oil facilities in the region.

Furthermore, Saudi officials accused Iran of encouraging this escalation. They claim Iran trains and arms the Houthi militia. Iran denies these allegations and claims it only offers political support.

Then, the civil war in Yemen intensified significantly in 2014. The Houthis forced the government out of the capital city of Sanaa. The Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 to restore the government.

As a result, the conflict has devastated the country for years. A fragile ceasefire collapsed after the Houthis began maritime operations. They blame the Saudi blockade for their retaliatory missile strikes.

Finally, the fighting continues to claim many lives across Yemen. The government reports over 1,200 deaths since early August. The United Nations warns of a growing humanitarian crisis and rising disease.
