Nuclear enrichment remains a central disagreement in peace talks between the United States and Iran. A lasting ceasefire remains difficult to achieve.

Diplomatic efforts to end the conflict between the United States and Iran face serious challenges. Iran's nuclear program remains a major barrier to a lasting ceasefire. Both nations initially cited this program as a reason for starting the war in February.

Meanwhile, the war has caused a global energy crisis. It also expanded into a wider regional conflict. Yemen has now become a new theater for this ongoing struggle.

The two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June. This deal aimed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. It also stated that Iran should not develop nuclear weapons.

However, the agreement failed after sixty days. Experts believe that both sides interpreted the clauses differently. Now, the nuclear issue has returned as the primary source of tension.

Tehran insists that it has a right to enrich uranium. It claims this right exists under the Non-Proliferation Treaty. President Donald Trump disagrees and demands zero uranium enrichment.

Also, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to call for a regime change in Iran. He argues this is the only way to stop nuclear development. Vice President JD Vance has suggested potential policy concessions.

Then, Pakistan’s army chief visited Tehran to meet with Iranian security officials. Iranian leaders stated they will not export any enriched uranium. They view this material as a vital domestic asset.

Furthermore, Iran demands that the United States lift its naval blockade. They also want sanctions removed and frozen assets released. In exchange, Iran promises to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.

Finally, US officials remain skeptical of these claims. President Trump says he will not allow Iran to rebuild its nuclear facilities. He continues to prioritize a verifiable commitment to prevent future weapon development.
