A nurse died during an attack while responding to an Ebola alert in the DR Congo. Uganda has since tightened border travel rules to prevent further spread.

A nurse died in an attack in north-eastern DR Congo. Another health worker suffered serious injuries during the incident. Both victims worked to help manage an ongoing Ebola outbreak.

Local youths attacked the medical team. They accused the workers of spreading the virus through water sources. The World Health Organization condemned this act of violence.

Meanwhile, Uganda implemented strict new travel rules. Officials banned non-essential travel to and from DR Congo. Citizens returning home must now complete a 21-day quarantine.

The Ebola outbreak began in May. Since then, nearly 10,000 people became sick. More than 4,800 patients have died from the virus.

Also, this is not the first time workers faced danger. A politician died last month after promoting safety measures. Volunteers have also suffered injuries in similar violent events.

Next, international officials expressed deep concern. The WHO leader said health workers deserve safety and dignity. He insisted that medical staff must work without fear.

However, the virus continues to spread across borders. Kenya and Nigeria reported their first cases this month. Officials work to trace where these patients caught the virus.

After that, Uganda tightened its border security. Only essential travelers like truck drivers may cross the border. These individuals must also undergo strict health screenings.

Finally, Uganda remains on high alert. Health Minister Chris Baryomunsi noted the risk remains very real. He said the nations must stay vigilant to stop the disease.
