Republicans and Democrats nationwide make their final pitch to voters on the eve of US midterm elections.
The war on Iran has emerged as a major campaign issue in the midterm elections.
Voters are preparing to cast their ballots on Tuesday, November 3, and for many, the effects of the Iran conflict at home are top of mind.
Trump has said he wants to seek a third term as president but the law probably precludes it, speaking in an interview with Miranda Devine’s “Pod Force One” for the New York Post.
“I’d love to run again if I had the chance, but the language is very exacting,” Trump told Devine, referring to term limits in the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment.
“I’d love to run, but it’s fine, you know we have more than two years left. It’s a long time. You can do a lot in that period of time,” Trump said in the interview, which was taped on Friday.
“I think the law said — I’m not 100% sure — but I think the law says that I’m not allowed to run again. I’ve studied that phrase.”
The sentiment is something the president has shared repeatedly at campaign rallies across the country in a bid to energise Republican voters to cast their ballots in tomorrow’s elections.
The late heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali’s daughter and grandson have endorsed Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed during a church service in Detroit.
“Abdul El-Sayed is part of Muhammad Ali’s legacy”, Jacob Ali-Wetheimer, Ali’s grandson, said.
“We feel the rising tide of hatred. We feel the cost of living increased by the day. But I can assure you, Michigan, that we’ve got another fighter in our corner”.

President Donald Trump is due to make his final pitch to voters before the midterm elections at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, bringing his costly renovation project back into the limelight after it was plagued with problems.
While speaking to reporters in Iowa yesterday, Trump said speaking at the site would “show how beautiful it is”.
The strenuous Reflecting Pool project began in April when Trump said he wanted to change its colour to “American flag blue” and initially estimated the cost at about $1.5m using contractors he knew.
Repairs were declared complete by Trump in June, but the algae in the Reflecting Pool grew quickly and the paint liner began peeling off in sections.
The project ended nearly three months behind schedule and cost more than 10 times Trump’s initial estimate.
