A suspect in a deadly Paris shooting is now undergoing psychiatric evaluation. President Macron labeled the incident a racist terrorist attack.

French officials recently moved a shooting suspect into psychiatric care. This man allegedly carried out a deadly attack near Paris last Friday. He fired shots from his car in two different towns.

However, the suspect will now undergo a mental health assessment. Experts must decide if he can handle further police questioning. This evaluation will likely last for two days.

Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron condemned the event. He called the incident a racist terrorist attack. The president noted that the attacker targeted people based on their religion or skin color.

Also, investigators found drugs in the suspect's system. Reports indicate he had both cocaine and cannabis in his blood. Police also discovered several books at his home.

Next, officials found a Bible, a Quran, and a copy of Mein Kampf. These items were inside the residence of the 39-year-old suspect. He reportedly used an old semi-automatic weapon during the shooting.

After that, family lawyers shared concerns about the mental health check. One attorney called the move very rare. He worries it might shield the suspect from full criminal responsibility.

Tragically, one person died during the violent attack. The victim was Pengo Bossio Wangi, a 26-year-old athlete. Friends described him as a respectful man with great energy.

Still, others remain in the hospital. A 12-year-old girl is among the injured victims. Her condition was critical, but she is now doing slightly better.

Finally, police noted that the suspect had a criminal history. He had four previous convictions on his record. Authorities confirm he was not known to national intelligence services before this event.
