NASA invites the public to send their names to Titan aboard the Dragonfly spacecraft. You can sign up online to be part of this historic mission.
NASA invites you to send your name to Titan. This moon orbits the planet Saturn. Your name will travel on the Dragonfly spacecraft.
Also, this mission marks a major milestone. Dragonfly will be the first craft to fly over another world. It will explore the surface of Titan.
Next, you can sign up on the official NASA website. They will put your name on a microchip. You will also receive a digital boarding pass.
Meanwhile, NASA officials expressed great excitement about the project. Nicky Fox says the mission will change how we view space. It explores a world that shares features with Earth.
However, you must act soon to join the list. The deadline to submit your name is January 15, 2027. You have until the end of that day.
After that, engineers will prepare the craft for its long journey. The team currently builds Dragonfly in Maryland. They plan to launch the spacecraft in 2028.
Then, the craft will reach its destination in 2034. Titan features thick air and lakes of liquid methane. It also has large sand dunes.
As a result, the mission will search for clues about life. Dragonfly will visit many spots on the moon. It will study chemistry that helps scientists understand how life begins.
Still, the work involves a large team of experts. The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory manages the project. Elizabeth Turtle leads the research team for NASA.
Finally, this is the fourth mission in the New Frontiers Program. The Marshall Space Flight Center oversees the program. You can find more details on the official NASA website.
