A judge has ordered Donald Trump to provide sworn testimony in his defamation case against the BBC by December 11.

A federal judge recently issued a new order regarding Donald Trump. He must answer questions under oath in his lawsuit against the BBC. This legal requirement must be met by December 11.

Also, the lawsuit stems from a 2021 Panorama episode. Trump claims the BBC edited his speech before the Capitol riot poorly. He argues the network intentionally misled viewers about his words.

However, the case is currently in the discovery phase. This part of the process requires both sides to evidence. The BBC argues that Trump has delayed this necessary step.

Meanwhile, Trump canceled a planned deposition on October 16. His team cited national security concerns for the sudden cancellation. The BBC lawyers noted that Trump actually attended a campaign rally in Georgia instead.

Next, the broadcaster's legal team requested help from the court. They asked a judge to force Trump to finish his testimony. A Miami judge now confirms that the deadline is December 11.

As a result, Trump faces potential sanctions if he misses this date. The judge warned that the court could even dismiss his lawsuit entirely. The legal team for the former president suggested new dates in January.

Furthermore, the BBC previously apologized for the editing error. They admitted the broadcast created a false impression of Trump calling for violence. The network continues to argue that the program is not defamatory.

Finally, the BBC pointed out that the show did not air in the United States. Trump’s lawyers admitted they lacked evidence that the show was available to American viewers. Trump also dropped his claims against the commercial arm of the BBC.
