Italy's defense minister warns that limiting US support for Ukraine will only embolden Russia and prolong the war.

Italy’s defense minister, Guido Crosetto, recently criticized the United States. He called it a major mistake to limit Ukraine's access to vital intelligence and satellite systems. These tools help Ukraine defend itself against ongoing Russian attacks.

Also, Crosetto warned that such actions make little sense. He fears these limits could prolong the war instead of creating peace. He spoke during an interview with the BBC from his office in Rome.

Meanwhile, US officials state that President Trump did not request slower internet speeds for Ukraine. They also deny stopping early-warning alerts for incoming Russian air strikes. However, Italy continues to voice sharp criticism of recent US policies.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently questioned a deal involving diesel imports from Russia. She called it a risky choice. She believes this deal grants legitimacy to Russia while they continue to bomb Ukrainian cities.

Next, the defense minister explained how to achieve lasting peace. He believes peace arrives only when Putin realizes a stalemate exists. He argues that showing weakness to Russia will only encourage further aggression.

After that, Crosetto reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to Ukraine. He promised that military aid will continue under the current government. Still, he admitted that future approvals might become more difficult as national elections approach.

Then, the minister addressed the rising public skepticism in Italy. Many citizens worry about high energy costs and fuel prices. Some protesters even argue that government funds should support schools rather than weapons.

However, Crosetto blamed a Russian disinformation campaign for shifting public opinion. He believes Moscow actively targets political narratives to weaken support for Ukraine. He insists that helping Ukraine is essential for Italy's own future security.

Finally, the minister noted that cyber-attacks from Russia occur daily. He urged Europe to take a stronger stance against these threats. He remains firm that the world must not show weakness to those who attack sovereign nations.
