Christa Pike recently spoke out about her health after surviving a botched lethal injection attempt in prison.

Christa Pike recently shared her first public statement. She survived a botched execution attempt this past September.

She claims she feels constant pain since that night. Her legal team posted her message on social media this Friday.

Pike says her entire body aches. She mentions her arms, hands, and throat specifically. She also finds it difficult to speak.

Meanwhile, the prisoner describes deep mental and emotional suffering. She notes that her pain goes beyond just physical injuries.

Also, medical staff discharged her from the hospital late last month. She survived two doses of the drug pentobarbital.

Doctors treated her for critical health issues during her stay. Officials then returned her to the prison facility.

Next, Pike returned to the same prison where she has lived for thirty years. She serves time for a 1995 murder.

Experts believe she is the only person to survive this lethal method. Her lawyers previously reported serious medical complications.

For example, she suffered from pneumonia after the procedure. She also dealt with severe arm swelling and swallowing problems.

Still, Pike says she is slowly recovering. She notes that she feels stronger each day. However, she clarifies that healing does not mean she is okay.

Finally, the case stems from a crime committed when she was eighteen. She and her boyfriend killed nineteen-year-old Colleen Slemmer.

The pair met the victim at a job training camp. Her accomplice, Tadaryl Shipp, remains in prison serving a different sentence.
