The son of a convicted Kenyan cult leader reports that his younger siblings were recently forced to starve, prompting a police rescue.
Paul Mackenzie, a Kenyan cult leader, recently received a murder conviction. He forced his followers to starve their children to death. This act aimed to help them meet Jesus sooner.
However, the leader's own son claims the danger persists today. Dan Mackenzie says his younger siblings faced forced fasting just two weeks ago. He reported the situation to local police authorities.
Next, officers acted quickly to rescue the children. They saved eight minors from the grandmother’s home. The children went to a safe rescue center immediately.
Also, Dan shared his own painful history with the group. His father forced him to fast for a week at age twelve. Members also beat him to ensure his attendance at services.
Then, Dan explained why he took action against his family. He realized the true scale of his father's crimes during court proceedings. He felt he had to protect his younger siblings from harm.
Meanwhile, the cult maintained strict and dangerous rules for all members. The leader forbade formal education and claimed modern medicine was evil. Dan left school when he was only seven years old.
After that, the court processed the massive case in Mombasa. Justice Diana Mochache noted that followers viewed the leader as a divine mouthpiece. They treated starvation deaths as celebratory weddings with Jesus.
Furthermore, other leaders face charges alongside the main pastor. Authorities discovered over 400 bodies buried in the Shakahola forest. The court will announce the final sentences on November 6.
Finally, Dan lives in Malindi and works as a taxi driver. He supports himself and his siblings away from the cult. He hopes the recent court verdict brings peace to grieving families.
