The son of a convicted Kenyan cult leader reports that his younger siblings were recently starved by family members.
Dan Mackenzie says his younger siblings recently faced forced starvation. The 27-year-old is the eldest son of Paul Mackenzie, a convicted cult leader.
Also, Dan reported his own grandmother to the police. He discovered his siblings were being denied food for days.
Next, officers rescued eight children from the grandmother's home. These children now stay at a safe rescue center.
Meanwhile, a court recently found Paul Mackenzie guilty of 191 murders. He told followers to starve themselves to meet Jesus.
However, the cult leader’s reach remains a problem for his family. He taught followers that education was forbidden and medicine was evil.
After that, Dan shared his own painful childhood experiences. He recalls being forced to fast for a week at age 12.
Still, Dan works hard as a motorcycle taxi driver today. He supports himself and his younger brothers and sisters in Malindi.
Then, other victims expressed relief regarding the recent court verdict. One man who lost six children welcomed the news of the convictions.
Furthermore, Justice Diana Mochache described the horrific rituals in her judgment. Followers viewed the deaths as weddings to Jesus.
Finally, the court will sentence the cult leader on November 6. He still faces additional charges regarding terrorism and radicalization.
