A missile strike on a Yemeni military camp killed at least 18 soldiers. The Houthi group claimed responsibility for the attack in Shabwa.
A Houthi missile attack hit a military camp in southern Yemen. The strike targeted the al-Alam site in the Shabwa region. Officials report that at least 18 people died in the blast.
Also, more than 30 people suffered injuries during the assault. The deputy governor of Shabwa noted that total casualties may reach 40. The attack occurred during a military training exercise on Monday.
Then, the Houthi group launched three ballistic missiles at the camp. This armed group also uses the name Ansar Allah. They recently seized land along the Red Sea coast.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni government responded with a new military operation. They call this effort the "Dawn of Yemen." The government aims to retake territory seized by the Houthis in 2014.
However, the fighting across the country continues to escalate. Rashad al-Alimi leads the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council. He promised a firm response to this tragic attack.
After that, al-Alimi called the strike a terrorist act. He said the group targets recruits when they feel military pressure. The Houthi leadership claimed full responsibility for the strike.
Next, a Houthi spokesperson explained their motivation for the attack. They view all Saudi-backed bases as legitimate targets. They intend to keep attacking these military sites in the future.
Finally, government forces hit back at Houthi positions. They targeted weapons and vehicles south of Taiz. The region currently struggles with high prices and fuel shortages.
