Israel’s recent election left the parliament without a clear majority for any single political bloc. Arab parties gained historic representation.

Israel held a parliamentary election on Tuesday. The results show no clear winner. Nearly 90 percent of the ballots are now counted. Both major political groups failed to reach the 61 seats needed to form a government.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leads a bloc expected to win 53 seats. The opposition, led by Gadi Eisenkot, is on track for 48 seats. Neither group has enough support to rule alone.

Meanwhile, Arab-majority parties won a historic 19 seats. This success came from a record 80 percent turnout among Palestinian citizens of Israel. These parties now hold a critical position in coalition talks.

Netanyahu campaigned by attacking his rivals. He claimed they would give citizenship to many Palestinians. He also called the election results a theft by Arab parties. However, officials dismissed these claims as false.

Next, opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot argued that his party could defeat Netanyahu. He refused to work with Arab parties during his campaign. He now promises to form a Zionist government despite the difficult math.

Also, Naftali Bennett campaigned on removing the current government. He claimed victory on election night. His party is set to win 12 seats in the new parliament.

Other candidates focused on hardline policies. Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich both pushed for aggressive actions against Palestinians. They also advocated for new settlements in Gaza. Their parties won fewer seats than they originally hoped.

Finally, Arab leaders like Yousef Jabareen pushed for equal partnerships. He believes in a future built on cooperation between Jews and Arabs. Mansour Abbas of the Ra’am party also criticized Netanyahu for using fear tactics.

The current political deadlock remains a major challenge for the country. Leaders must now find a way to build a stable coalition. The path forward remains uncertain for all parties involved.
